Recently retired. Physician in Geriatric and General and Acute Care Medicine Royal Darwin Hospital

John started his medical career as a rural general practitioner for 8 years  before deciding to enter physician training and change his career to geriatric medicine. He worked on the NSW Central Coast for 20 years before moving to Darwin and working as a geriatrician and general physician until retirement last December.

His special interests are delirium and the opportunities and challenges that it and other cognitive conditions present for the patient, their families and the health service. He has also introduced patient and family carer goal attainment scaling as a tool for planning  and evaluating the diverse care these patients require.

Since retirement he has been assisting in the evaluation of the Top End Health Delirium and Cognitive Care Program, a whole of hospital project.
