Professor Suetonia Palmer is a practising nephrologist and academic at the University of Otago, Christchurch. Suetonia is a non-Indigenous faculty member for the Hauora Māori curriculum for undergraduate and postgraduate medical training. She is the cochair of the CARI guidelines for management of chronic kidney disease in Māori in Aotearoa New Zealand and Chair of the CARI Steering Committee. Suetonia is President-Elect of the ANZSN and Council member responsible for the Society’s Indigenous Health strategy. Suetonia has been involved in supporting the Catching Some Air project and Indigenous governance workstream with the ANZDATA registry. She has published several original scientific articles on Māori health in Aotearoa New Zealand, is a member of the University of Otago Christchurch Māori Research Development Komiti and is a lead author on the CONSIDER checklist, strengthening research involving Indigenous Peoples.
