Dr. Maria Chan (PhD, AdvAPD, FNKF) serves on many national and international renal committees. Being the founding and executive member of the Global Renal Internet Course for Dietitians (GRID course) of the National Kidney Foundation (NKF) USA, she is committed to improving the nutritional care and outcomes of patients with chronic kidney disease (CKD) globally as well as the training of renal specialist dietitians. She involved in the development of four sets of evidence based renal nutrition practice guidelines, and pioneered the world-first intra-dialytic resistance training, the PEAK study. Her research interest is to examine the effects of nutrition and exercise interventions on outcomes of people with end stage kidney disease. Maria has received many awards for her outstanding contribution to renal nutrition, including the prestigious Joel Kopple Award, NKF, USA in 2015.
