KidGen Symposium

The KidGen Symposium will be held Saturday 31st August 2024 in Riverbank Room 5 at the Adelaide Convention Centre.  It will run concurrently with the first day of the Nephrology & Transplantation Update Course and the two courses will combine sessions during the afternoon.

The KidGen Collaborative is the National Kidney Genetics Flagship for Australian Genomics. It unites clinicians and non-clinical professionals to improve the clinical management of inheritable kidney diseases. The KidGen Collaborative has an extensive network of renal genetics clinics (RGCs) across Australia, where patients can access world-leading renal genetics care.

Our KidGen Symposium stands as an internationally acclaimed annual professional gathering, showcasing a diverse range of sessions addressing current facets of renal genomics, care, and research. Led by experts from Australia and abroad, both clinicians and non-clinical professionals contribute their insights. The theme for the 2024 meeting is ‘Empowering Personalised Kidney Healthcare Through Genetic Risk Assessment and Patient-Focused Solutions.’ We are honoured to host two distinguished international speakers:

  • Professor Fiona Karet from the Cambridge Institute for Medical Research, University of Cambridge, UK, and
  • Professor Olivier Devuyst from the Institute of Physiology, Zurich Kidney Center, University of Zurich, Switzerland.
